Being The Solution To The Problem Ahead
Who is Clifford Kelley
I have been Garfield Heights Resident since 2008, a Husband and Father of three. I have always been involved in the lives of our children, in Ministry and in our great city. I’ve given time visiting our Juvenile Detention Center, city jails and penitentiaries. I've always tried to find a way to be involved in those things which effected me to impact change. I have a "Boots on the Ground" mentality. I've worked in Security/Law Enforcement and Corrections for a total of 20 years. I have served in Ministry for the last 30 years, intersecting countless personalities and agendas.
I was Boy Scout many years ago and became a Scout Leader in my son's Pack (137) right here in Garfield Heights. In scouting there is a saying “the Cub Scouts helps the Pack go, The Pack help the Cub Scouts grow, the Cub Scouts gives goodwill”. Well Council helps the Ward go, the Ward helps the city grow, The City gives good will to its people. Now we focus solely on our local community. I am Clifford Kelley and I would appreciate your support in helping Garfield Heights go and grow as your Councilman in Ward 6.
The Plan ~ Making Garfield Go & Grow:
Working for a Safer Community ~ Pushing Youth, Community and Senior Activities ~ Improving Community Relations ~ Continuing To Work For Diversity ~ Working with our City Services ~ Help Frame City Economic Base ~ City Beautification
Staying Busy
Fighting Inequality
The sign of true leadership is not standing still and complaining while things go awry. But taking to rolling your sleeves up, getting involved and setting a course of action for all.
As a Correction Officer I worked as Secretary (90'-94') for Minority Assoc. for Cuyahoga County Correction Officers (MACCCO). Our present union produce no results for our officers. We started our own and labored to balance the discipline and promotion among all our officers, no matter of color and gender.
As a member and Secretary of UGSOA Local 241, we worked to negotiate contracts more sustainable to the needs of a staff of 80+ Officers.
With filing of grievances and working as an union steward, I’ve had to manage agendas of personal and policy in nature.
In a short time as a resident, I helped influence the passing of legislation allowing business to come into our community. Which brings more revenue, tax dollars to Garfield Heights. I have presented ideas to boost community relations. I have tried to help by promoting some structural change in the resident area of the ward. I have also helped us take more control of our vacant spaces.
I have done the hard work. And I have been effective in getting things done
How will you do things different
Treat Others as You’d Like to Be Treated
We like to operate by the great principle, "Do to others as you would have them do to you". No matter our differences, we all want the same thing. We are all desirous of raising our children in a city that is safe and thriving. I try to keep a mind of always helping one another when we can. Because there is no place for division among us.
